parchment on the table in your chamber

like a chambermaid folds a bedsheet
lengthwise in the middle

and in both   middles between the middle
and the edges to the left and   to the right

in the evening
before your day’s last thought comes 
and goes to sleep with you   fold
the page like a servant girl would

then unfold
